Come Join Me On This Wordy Adventure.
This blog is my reaction to life and the books, movies, music, and television shows I encounter as well as a place to introduce artists that I believe are worth talking about. Every now and then, I will share something I find that meant something to me, usually good. I do respect your opinions, especially if they are different than my own. I know everyone experiences things in their own specific way, so I don't expect many of you to see things exactly the way I do. If you do, high five, we are on the same thought train. If not, I encourage you to say so in the comments. I do, however, trust that you will respect others by not being mean or using foul language. I will try my best to stay away from name calling and argue in an intelligent manner. I expect you to do the same. If there are posts that are not respectful, they will be removed. I would like intelligent conversation, not hot heads. Thank you in advance. Due to my crazy schedule, I might not get to post as much as I'd like to. So, please hang in there with me and come back often to check on me and make sure I'm not making a fool of myself. ;o)
Ok, so that is out of the way, now I will introduce myself to you, my new friends. I, am nobody. I am not an expert on anything, not even an expert on myself. I am always learning and love that I can change my mind about something when given new facts. I constantly read, watch movies, listen to music that moves me, and troll the internet looking for interesting shows and videos (such as Rhett and Link in Good Mythical Morning on YouTube)
I am a jack of all trades, master of none. I am a photographer and artisan jewelry maker (cue Portlandia's "She's Making Jewelry Now" video) and otherwise restless human being. I grew up under my mother's desk listening to her change the world through her work with Head Start and I also went on to work with Head Start for many years trying to give our future generations the tools they need to become amazing.
I love helping people. I will usually jump at the chance to help an organization that betters our world, whether through therapeutic riding (check out Healing With Horses Ranch http://www.healingwithhorsesranch.org ), big organizations like Ian Somerhalder Foundation (http://www.isfoundation.com/welcome) and other's that I happen to find. Even though this blog is dedicated to reviewing books, movies and such, occasionally I will "review" a charitable organization and give you information on how to help in your own way. I also encourage you to write to me with your own thoughts on different charitable organizations that deserve a full "review" and I will be glad to get with you to put it in the spotlight.
Throughout the blog, I will be trying to secure interviews with artists and writers, and who knows, maybe an actor or two will grace us with their presence. If you are, or know any such people, please contact me and we can set up an interview and showcase for their work.
Thank you for joining me on this adventure. It will be truly epic, even if it is only for me... ;o)
